ChargEV FleX takes you from finding a station to receiving the invoice for a public charging session. You do not need a traditional account with an email address and password, a subscription, or a separate RFID charge card.
The app is currently available for iPhone. Charging launches in Germany, with Apple Pay and supported credit cards available as payment methods.
What makes ChargEV FleX different
Many charging apps require a contract, an account or a monthly plan. ChargEV FleX is designed for spontaneous and occasional public charging.
The important information appears before you authorize the session:
- the ChargEV FleX price per kilowatt-hour;
- possible time or blocking fees;
- a possible fixed fee per session;
- charging power and connector type;
- reported connector availability;
- the amount temporarily held on your payment method.

1. Find a station and set your filters
When opened, ChargEV FleX shows charge points in the visible map area. Many markers already display the cheapest matching ChargEV FleX energy price and the reported number of available connectors.
Open Filter & Presets to narrow the map:
- AC/DC: no restriction by current type;
- AC: conventional alternating-current charge points;
- DC: direct-current charge points, including HPC;
- HPC: high-power DC charging;
- Price limit: the highest ChargEV FleX price per kilowatt-hour you want to see;
- Operator filter: selected charging-station operators.
You can save a combination as a preset. For example, one everyday preset could show only AC charging below a chosen price, while a separate road-trip preset focuses on HPC stations.
Search also covers places, addresses, saved favorites and nearby charge points. Once you choose a destination, the app can display its route on the map.

2. Check the station, availability and tariff
Tap a map marker to open the station details. Depending on the supplied data, the header shows:
- distance and estimated driving time;
- maximum charging power;
- connector type;
- available and total charge points;
- address and operator;
- an action to display the route.
The displayed power is a technical maximum. Actual charging speed also depends on your vehicle, battery level, battery temperature and whether the station shares power between connectors.
Check how fresh the availability data is
ChargEV FleX receives availability data from the connected charging networks. A charge point can therefore show when its status was last updated.
A green status is most useful when the update is recent. Older data may no longer reflect the situation at the station. An available connector also does not guarantee that its parking bay is accessible or free from another vehicle.
Look beyond the energy price
The tariff card separates the available price components. These can include:
- energy per kilowatt-hour;
- time while charging;
- a blocking fee after a grace period;
- a fixed session fee;
- time restrictions or a maximum amount.

3. Select the tariff and charge point
When a station can be started through ChargEV FleX, tapping its tariff card opens the charging preparation screen.
First select the tariff. Then match the physical connector to its EVSE ID. This identifier is commonly printed on a label beside the socket or cable.

When the EVSE ID is not visible
At supported stations, ChargEV FleX can select the charge point automatically. Use this only when you cannot reliably identify the connector at the station.
Automatic selection could otherwise start the wrong connector. Plug in your cable first and follow the warning shown in the app.
Payment hold and authorization
Before authorization, the app shows the selected tariff, charge point and temporary hold again. The example shown in this guide places a €30 hold.
The hold is not the final charge. After billing, only the actual cost is captured or offset against the hold. The remaining amount is released by the card issuer; how quickly it disappears from your card account depends on the bank.
You can authorize with Apple Pay or a supported credit card. Then follow the instructions in the app and at the charger.
4. Monitor and stop the charging session
Once the start is confirmed, the session appears in the charging monitor. It shows:
- current status;
- energy reported so far;
- elapsed time;
- a running cost estimate;
- the time of the latest update.
The running cost is calculated from the measurements received so far and the selected tariff. It is a careful estimate, not yet the final invoice. Final billing uses the complete charging data received after the session ends.
Push notifications can report the start, stop, completion and billing status. You can also request a stop from the app. Wait for confirmation from the station and disconnect according to the instructions at the charge point.
After charging: billing and invoice
When charging ends, the session moves to the completed list. Final billing may take several minutes while the complete charging and measurement data is processed.
Once available, the app can show:
- final energy and duration;
- costs split into energy, time and additional components;
- included VAT;
- payment method and payment status;
- invoice status and invoice number.
If billing details need to be confirmed or added, you can do that before the invoice is created. An issued PDF invoice can then be opened and shared.
Other useful features
Favorites and destinations
Stations and other places can be saved as favorites. With permission, ChargEV FleX can also include addresses from your iPhone contacts in search.
A selected destination remains visible on the map, helping you evaluate charge points nearby or along the displayed route.
CarPlay
CarPlay provides safer access to nearby charge points, favorites and filters while driving, and can start navigation in Apple Maps. Charge-point selection, payment and session start remain on the iPhone.
Support with a session reference
Every charging session has a short readable reference. The support action includes it and relevant technical app information in a prepared email, helping support identify the correct session more quickly.
What to check before every start
- Does the selected connector work with your vehicle?
- Does the EVSE ID in the app match the label on the charger?
- Are the energy price, time price and possible blocking fee acceptable?
- Is there a separate parking fee or local time restriction?
- Is the availability update recent enough?
- Does the confirmation screen show the expected tariff and payment hold?
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a ChargEV FleX account?
No. You do not need an account with an email address and password. The app is installed on your iPhone and uses a device-bound identity for its technical processes.
Can I charge at every public charger?
No. A session can only be started where ChargEV FleX offers a matching tariff and the necessary technical connection. On August 23, 2026, a current ChargEV FleX tariff was available at 42,760 of the 56,254 public German sites supplied by Hubject, ENAPI, and Stromnetz Hamburg—76.0% within the data from these three roaming partners. The sites with an available tariff contained 140,168 charge points (EVSEs), which ChargEV FleX combines into shared map destinations. The station details and the screen shown before authorization indicate whether a particular charge point can be used.
Is the amount in the charging monitor final?
No. The app shows an estimate while charging. The final amount is determined after the complete session data has been processed.
What if a connector is shown as available but is occupied?
The status comes from the relevant charging network and can be delayed. Check the time of the latest update and the situation at the station, then select a different connector if necessary.
Is ChargEV FleX available for Android?
ChargEV FleX is currently available for iPhone.
